Skiing at Hovden Norway

Ski Hovden Norway

Hovden in Norway is a small village that has a great skisenter.

Hovden is only a 3.5 hour drive from Kristiansand - so is a great choice for a weekend away. There are two 4-seat express lifts taking you to the top, 4 ski tows and a 2-seat lift.

There is a small amusement park for the kids with easy runs. It also has a lift that infants can use.
There is a snowboard park and litted slope, ski rental and skishop, cafeteria, afterski and bistro. This is a place for the entire family, whether you are a ski or snowboard enthusiast.
Hovden also has a terrain park for the advanced snow skiers, forest tracks and 170 km of crosscountry trails.

The Hovden village also has 2 large supermarkets for food, 2 bars, a service station (gas station) and a couple of other useful stores.
The bars are very popular on a Friday and Saturday night during the Norwegian winter ski season and new years eve sees many fireworks and parties in town.

If you visit Hovden during the winter, you are practically guaranteed snow and they have snow cannons.

There is a ski hire store at the bottom of the largest chairlift where you can hire all the equipment you need to ski on the mountain. It is near the carpark. Kids get free helmets when you rent skis there.

Hovden is also a place to visit during the summer months. There are many fishing lakes and hiking trails in the mountains, swimming, bicycling and a Indoor swim center called Hovden Badeland. This is open all year.

Hovden Accomodation

There are many cabins in Hovden available to rent. You can always find some available on www.finn.no or there is also a hotel in Hovden. It is better to find a cabin to rent rather than the hotel as you get more facilities and better value for money. The cabins are also very Norwegian, (in other words built out of wood in old styles) so they give you a great experience of life in the Norwegian ski fields.

If you have trouble finding a cabin to rent, contact us and we may be able to help you.
